The primary mission of Albany Community Together, Inc., or ACT! is to create wealth opportunities by helping low-wealth people who are underserved by traditional financial institutions to build wealth through small business ownership, access to capital and financial literacy. ACT! serves women, minorities, and individuals who live in Southwest Georgia. ACT! seeks to aid in the overall economic recovery and development of the Greater Albany Area and the Southwest Georgia Region by helping to alleviate the chronic poverty that is a result of an inadequate labor force caused by the high school dropout rates and increase in teenage pregnancies, erosion of the agriculture economies, textile factories, and migration. ACT! believes in helping its customers to not only acquire access to capital, but also create wealth and assets. One mechanism for building wealth and transforming communities is development of thriving micro-enterprises (businesses). |
